How this journey began...

Well, it occurred to me today in church while listening to a sermon about living a life fluent in the gospel that I should post on here why I am going to Peru and how it all happened. The sermon today focused on applying the gospel to our everyday life and what happens when we do that. The first thing that happens is that we begin to have less fear and gain more boldness. The second is that it has a way of breeding grace. Both two very applicable things that I have seen in my Christian walk especially in this past year and a half.

The boldness aspect really sticks out to me because it is what the Lord has been teaching me since January. I have been doing a study of the book of Acts and through this study he showed me that all of the first Christians were Bold in their faith in the Lord and were obedient in what God was telling them to do. Even though they were fearful of what they knew God was calling them to do they did it because their Boldness in the Lord outweighed their fear. God captivated them and that captivation created great Boldness in their lives.

So, through reading Acts God showed me that being Bold is a vital aspect to my walk with Him. Ever since I was a little girl I have had a passion for missions. I grew up in GA's (Girls in Action) where we learned about missionaries all over the world. Also, during VBS's every summer I loved to go to the missions room and learn about missionaries. This passion grew and grew as I have gotten older. I have been on so many mission trips here in the states including New Orleans, Greenville, Atlanta, Tifton. I also went to China last summer for 2 weeks. Through these experiences, quiet times with the Lord, Conferences through BCM...God kept revealing more and more how I have been called to the mission field. I knew that I needed to go some where overseas for a long period time, longer than just a few weeks to see if this is something I could do long term. So, I am so excited that God has given me this opportunity to serve in Peru!
