Leaving May 29th for PERU!

Hola Friends and Family!

I will be departing for Peru in just under 2 weeks from today. I can't believe it! I am a college graduate now, ready to embark on the world! I have titled my blog Constantly Amazed because it is how I feel about my life and all the Lord has done in it! He continues to Constantly Amaze me daily with the family, friends, and experiences he has set before me. Now that I have completed student teaching, the education cohort and graduated with my degree in Early Childhood Education I can't wait to see what he amazes me with next. I am so excited about Peru this summer. I will be leaving May 29th at 5:05 pm from the Atlanta Airport! I will be flying with 5 other college students to Peru: Tim, Jessica, Mindy, Maggie, and Andrea. Maggie, Andrea and I will be living in Huancane, Peru teaching English as a Second Language. We are not quite sure what ages we will be teaching and the details yet but I am very excited! We also will be living right near John and Sonia Grady the missionaries there who have 2 adorable boys! Sonia will be working with us girls teaching English. The other three Peru missionaries will be living an hour and half away in Moho, the are roughing it more than us teachers. They will be sleeping on the floor and living in the village building relationships and working on church planting. Hopefully, we will get to see each other some.

I will be returning from Peru on August 1st and then I will be moving to California to be a semester missionary through the North American Mission Board. I will be teaching Pre-school at the A+ Preschool in Tahoe, City! I will be living right near Lake Tahoe. I am so excited about this opportunity the Lord has blessed me with after Peru and will of course keep you updated on this as well.

I can't wait to post more updates from Peru on here! I will also be posting prayer request. Right now my current ones include

-Packing and getting everything together for Peru
-Getting all my paper work and things together for Tahoe City
-Team unity
-Safety traveling
-Adjusting to Peruvian life and Altitude 13,000 feet above sea level
-Leaving Friends and Family

Also here is my address while I am in Peru. I am not sure how much internet access I will have so I am assuming my best means of communication will be writing letters. I would love for y'all to be my pen pals this summer!

  1. Hey there. It warms my heart to know the great and marvelous things that God is going to do through you by teaching. It is a calling that has been so apparent in your life and confirmed in so many ways. I know that through all of this there are going to be times of trial and uncertainty. When those times come, I want you to remember this song:

I was walking on water just a week ago
Not a care in the world even a day ago
Not sure what happened but all of the sudden
I saw the crashing waves all around me
And once again I had to choose to put my eyes back on You
And You said cling to the call
Cling to the peace that guards your heart
Cling to the promise though you stumble you won't fall
I will uphold you now just trust me with all
Just look at me and I will lead you as you cling to the call

love yah girl, and I will be praying constantly,
    your sister in Christ,
    Jessica

  3. Kayla,
The kids were asking about you the other day. I told them you were going to Peru to teach for the summer. I am planning a little South American exploration study this summer with you in Peru and Malena's family moving to Argentina for mission work as well. The kids will be writing soon! I am so thrilled for you and confident that God is going to do some awesome things through you this summer and fall. We miss you but keeping you close in our prayers. Let me know if you need anything. Love to you and many blessings for your journey!
